Wed, Dec 28th, Couch 25k Week 3 Day 1 Had a nice run in the evening but I had worked out at lunch so energy supplies were low. My knees were better today burn shins were really acting up. Otherwise, I struggled through it. The running definitely increased this week.

Saturday, December 17, Couch 2 5k week 2 day 2 A nice morning. Clear and quiet. I had trouble with me legs early on. Later in the run it was my lungs. Completed it successfully however.

Tuesday, December 13, Couch 2 5K, Week 2 Day 1 Well this week started off hard. 30 secs you wouldn't think would be harder but it is. Tonight more rain in north Texas so we went to an indoor track. Forgot to stretch again and was fighting keeping time properly on the polar watch. Apparently it doesn't have a stop watch feature so yet another piece of equipment to buy. I was happy to also get a weight lifting session in yesterday. Still hovering the 200 pound mark. I hope to break that this week.

Saturday, December 10 Couch 2 5K, Week 1 Day 3

Another brisk run this morning but it was enjoyable.  Was huffing a little by the end but still keeping up pretty well.  Took back the clown shoes and picked up some real Asics running shoes and some warm weather gear.

Weight at end of workout:  200.3 pounds

Tuesday, December 6th
Couch 2 5K - Week 1, Day 2
It was tough getting up early this morning. What's worse is that it was a brisk 30 degrees. I got up a little early to be sure and stretch. It took only a few mins to warm up. I wore my new shoes today. I had picked up some Aasic clown shoes, Asics gel noosa tri 6. They were not very comfortable and they may not work out. Anyway, I completed today's required exercises with no issues.

Sunday Dec 4th 2011
Today I began the couch 2 5k exercise program. It was very cold here in Texas. I wasn't dressed properly and it rained the entire time. The prescribed exercises were not too difficult today but I failed to stretch properly before going out. I have to make that part of the routine. I also took all my vital measurements and used their site to record it. Finally, I took before pictures so I have a comparison once I complete the program which goes for nine weeks.
Purpose of this blog: Welcome. If you are reading this then perhaps you are like me, one of the 57 million Americans diagnosed with Pre-diabetes. I'm developing this blog to document the transformtion process of reversing the condition. The Beginning: I was diagnosed in July 2011 as being Pre diabetic following a failed glucose tolerance test when my A1C exceeded the normal range. The primary care recommended medication but I opted for a change of lifestyle including diet and exercise. After some modest diet changes I've seen no improvement. My latest dr visit confirmed this so now I'm making further adjustments that I'll document here. Starting off in December 2011, I am a 43 year old male weighing 200 pounds.
